Effectiveness evaluation of a visual model intervention with SCORE in patients with uncontrolled hypertension in primary care
EDUCORE (Education and Coronary Risk Evaluation) was designed to evaluate if a new educational intervention based on a visual learning strategy for cardiovascular risk can improve control of patients suffering from high blood pressure.
The EDUCORE study has been funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation via Instituto de Salud Carlos III and FEDER (Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional), through the government subsidy Health Technologies Research projects and Health of 2009. Project code (Fondo de Investigación Sanitaria): 09/90354.
This is a multicentre clinical trial being performed at Primary Health Clinics (PHCC) in Madrid Community and its main aim is to improve clinical practice by using best evidence available. The length of the study will be two years.
The investigator team set up took place in Madrid community in 2010. Nowadays almost 200 health professionals are included. Their activity is manly developed as practitioner, academic and researcher at Primary Heath Care field. Most of these professionals already had deep experience in clinical research and in other kind of research initiatives.
Interests of the group are focused on providing a working tool to improve handling of cardiovascular risk in primary health care and increasing doctor-patient communication strategies from a multidisciplinary and integrating point of view.
The group also aims to spread all knowledge derivate from Educore study, through publications, congresses, workshops and different diverse ways addressed to both patients and professionals.
